Entire Star Wars saga being converted into 3D, Lucas says

Personally, 3D films just give me a headache. The detail is blurry, the glasses are a pain, and it pretty much amounts to a gimmick for cinemas to charge even more money to get in. But, it seems the big name film makers disagree; including George Lucas.
The creator of the biggest sci-fi epic of all time has announced that all six episodes in the Star Wars saga are to be converted into 3D and re-released to the global box office. Lucas’s own Industrial Light & Magic special effects company will helm the conversion project, with Episode 1: The Phantom Menace expected to see a 2012 release.
“It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful [in 3D adaptations],” said ILM’s John Knoll. “It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results.
“For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.”
I certainly wouldn’t baulk at the opportunity to check Star Wars on the big screen again, but I’m not looking forward to the headaches. Six two-hour 3D movies and we’ll all know what it feels like to be frozen in carbonite.
Your thoughts on a postcard, please.
